An Uninvited Guest

We are finally getting over a spell of bad weather here brought on by the dregs of tropical storm "Nicole". Lot's of rain and wind (nothing like FL, though), enough to topple some trees and put some communities out of power for a short while.

The worst of it, though, is that it finally actually "feels" like Fall outside. Cool, damp, windy days and the Fall foliage colours are just past their peak. From here on in, it's nothing but cold weather, bare branches and probably too much snow. Luckily we had a pretty nice September and first half of October. I am going to try this Winter, though, to get outside more (even though I hate the cold) and do some stuff to enjoy the season rather than endure it. I've tried snowshoeing before and it was great fun - I may try that again. Any other ideas for great Wintertime activities? (Don't say skiing - tried that, much to my pain and embarrassment..)

A Quiz!!

As an IT guy, I decided to take this quiz to determine what operating system I am, and wound up:

Heaven help me. Well at least I wasn't Windows ME.....

I agree, Windows ME is clearly evil.

Anyway, here it is:

If you want to see ALL the OS types, here is the page with them..

Oh, I haven't forgotten about my trip report from NH, just haven't had time yet... and I want to do it up right!!

A Voice from the Dead

Hello? Is there anyone still out there? Have you given up on me ever posting again? Well, have no fear - Gforce is back! Well, for now, anyway....

Sorry for taking so long to post anything - it's been busy and I just haven't had the motivation. *sighs*

Anyway, tomorrow I am looking forward to going to New Hamshire for a final major hike of the year. This is the last week that the AMC huts are going to be open until June, so I am going down to spend one night at the AMC's Highland Centre, and on Monday am hiking up the Falling Waters trail and on to Greenleaf Hut for the second night. Then out the Old Bridle Path and then home. Maybe. If the weather's nice, I might just stay down there one more day.

I have done this hike before as a day hike and also as an overnighter at the hut, but always in the opposite direction. This time should be particularly beautiful since Fall foliage is at it's peak in NH right now. That is, if the weather is nice - which it often isn't on the summits. Don't worry, I will take all my wintery gear with me!

Unfortunately, I will be travelling alone as all my friends are either busy or disinterested. Oh well, more time to ponder the beauty I suppose.

I will have a full trip report when I get back!!
