Oct 17, 2005 - "To Namche"

11,355.3 ft altitude!

Had a good breakfast today of egg & Tibetan bread. The first part of the hike was along the river and we crossed a number of bobbing, swaying suspension bridges. The last one was a couple of hundred feet above! Met some very cute kids along the way who posed for some pictures. After the last suspension bridge, we started to climb in earnest, and soon had our first view of Everest! Then we climbed and climbed - up to 3400 metres at Namche! Namche is a bustling town with many shops and teahouses. Our teahouse is quite nice with regular flush toilets! No elevation problems so far, although we had to climb pretty slowly for the last while. It's hard to describe how amazing the scenery is here - I can't believe I'm here!
